New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has said that experts are telling him peak of infections will be 14 to 21 days from now. NYC will need around 140,000 hospital beds to make sure the healthcare system is not overloaded. Cases across the state of New York are doubling about every three days, standing at 25,665 as of Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the entire country of India to go under mandatory lockdown. This means that in the country of 1.3 billion, 1/5 of the world's population, people are not allowed to leave their homes. He stated that if they failed to manage the virus over the next 21 days it would set their country back 21 years.
If infections in NYC are predicted to peak in 2 to 3 weeks, then I am guessing that the pandemic will peak around 3 weeks from today in the part of America that I live in. As of now I am thankfully still going in to work. There is only one confirmed case in the county I live in.
My impression is that America is handling the pandemic as well as any other country, without resorting to the extreme police state tactics that the communist Chinese government has. As I have stated in previous articles on this subject, our economy is experiencing severe damage. But here too I am starting to believe that once we are past this our way of life will come roaring back.
The Pandemic as of today:
Global cases: More than 398,107
Global deaths: At least 17,454
Global recoveries: At least 103,334
US cases: At least 46,805
US deaths: At least 593
